With the GE Digital cordless telephone you get three phones to use even if
you only have one phone jack and that's all you really need is one phone
jack. The GE Digital Cordless Telephone comes with the main cordless phone,
which is attached to the answering machine. The answering machine is a
digital answering machine which allows callers up to 14 minutes of record
time when leaving you and your family a message. With a large LCD digital
readout, you will know exactly how many calls are waiting to be returned on
the answering machine. The recorded outgoing message gives you a generous
two minutes to record an outgoing message. With the GE Digital Cordless
Telephone, you will receive two other cordless handsets and cradles to keep
them in for charging purposes. However you will only need one jack or
telephone outlet for the main cordless phone. The other two cordless
telephones simply plug into a regular electrical outlet. This way you can
have phones in rooms that do not have telephone jacks in them and you don't
have to pay the telephone company to come out and put telephone jacks in
these rooms. You can now place a phone in places like a spare bedroom, or
the basement or an office that has its phone jack connected to the computer.
In addition, these three phones will in no way interfere with a WiFi
network. The handset of each of these phones allows you hands-free
speakerphone capability and you can also expand them up to four handsets
with the purchase of an individual handset and cradle. There are also some
other neat things about this group of phones such as the personalized ring
tone for save numbers. Each saved number can have its own special ring
tone, something like three short rings for grandma and two long rings for
your friend Lisa. It's called VIP ring tones. Another feature found on the
GE Digital Cordless Telephone trio is the 'do not disturb' button. With the
touch of one button you can make all of your calls go directly to the
answering machine and you will never hear a ring in your home to disturb
you. This is great when you have a lot of work to get done and you don't
want to have to be answering the phone or listening to the answering machine
to see who's calling you. There's up to 40 names and numbers for call
waiting and caller ID, which needs activation through the telephone company,
but once that is done, you can program in up to 40 friends or family members
names and numbers so when they call, their name and number will show up and
you'll instantly know who is calling. Having a phone in a place such as the
bedroom or the basement, where you normally couldn't have one before because
paying for the phone jack is a big expense, will now put your mind at ease.
